GROUP PROJECT SIMULATOR
Game Production Lab
Group Project Simulator is a visual novel about the experience of working on a group project. The player can choose between three characters to help with their piece of the project, or alternatively, choose not to work on the project at all.

Gameplay consists of visual novel sections, which presents the player with choices they can make to change their relationship with the other characters and impact the story. After each visual novel section are minigames designed around different choices the player might make, and each minigame has its own set of levels.

On Group Project Simulator, I was primarily the Narrative Designer and in charge of shaping the overall plot and character arcs as well as all dialogue and choices, and implementation of all dialogue and choices. I also assisted with programming, minigame art for the Anxiety Dream minigame, and graphic design for our Meowstro Studios logo.
Narrative Design

Simplified Plot Map
As Narrative Designer, I was responsible for writing all dialogue and choice text present in the visual novel section of the game.

The player has a total of 4 days before the due date of their project and presentation, and they have 4 ways they can can choose to spend each of those days - with exceptions. The player has the option to visit one other person working on their group project, Alyssa, Skylar, or Ed, or alternatively the player can choose not to work on their project at all and go to sleep.

The plot is designed to allow no repeat scenes during one playthrough, so the first time the player visits a character will have a different scene than the second or third time. Visiting one person to the maximum of 3 times during one playthough often results in developing a friendship with that character, while visiting each character 1 or 2 times each will result in a more well-rounded grade.

The 5th day in game is the day of the presentation, and the choices the player makes throughout the game affects what kind of presentation the Group presents.

Below is are links to the scripts of dialogue used in the game which I was responsible for writing, as well as a simplified plot map illustrating the overall flow of the game.
